Many students and reporters find it hard to pass the NCTJ exams. Now you can be properly prepared! Our e-coaching course provides you with personal training, whether you are sitting the exams for the first time, or re-sitting them.

It has proved particularly helpful for people who have failed an exam several times. The course has a 100 per cent success rate.

 

It provides:

  • four mock exams in each subject. These are marked to exam standard and returned with detailed feedback, advice and instruction
  • Our unique exam preparation course
  • updates on law, PA and the PCC Code
  • live chat to a tutor
          

The coaching is personal, detailed and on-going and does not take up a great deal of time. It will give you the best possible chance of passing.

You can study for any of the exams, or all of them. 

Entry requirements

The course is for anyone who is sitting or re-sitting NCTJ exams.


Duration and hours

Most people sign up around 3 months before the exams, which are every April and November.

Tutor support

You can now chat to a tutor using Skype when you need help, or you can e-mail them. You will usually hear back straight away.

The tutor

The diploma is led by Cleland Thom, one of the UK´s leading media trainers. He is a member of the Society of Editors and the Chartered Institute of Journalists' Professional Practice Board.

He led an accredited NCTJ course for 10 years, and has been coaching students for their NCTJ exams by distance learning since 2003.

He has:

  • consistently achieved 100 per cent NCTJ exam pass rates over the past 15 years
  • taken part in NCTJ accreditation panels
  • worked at three NCTJ-accredited training centres
  • taught all NCTJ exam subjects
  • marked hundreds of NCTJ exam papers

Cleland also delivers in-house training to newspapers, magazines and radio stations across the UK

Equipment

You'll need:

  • access to a computer with an internet connection
  • Microsoft Word software, or equivalent
  • an email account
