The tutor

The diploma is led by Cleland Thom, one of the UK´s leading media trainers. He is a member of the Society of Editors and the Chartered Institute of Journalists' Professional Practice Board.

Newspaper production course entry requirements

The course is for anyone who needs the NCTJ subbing qualification. It is for novices - you may work for a newspaper already.


Newspaper production course duration and hours

The course takes 6 months - 2 years. E-learning means you can work at your own pace and fit your studies around your lifestyle.

You can do extra work when it's quiet, and cut back if you're busy. And you can take time out if you need to.

Tutor support

You can chat to a tutor using Skype when you need help, or you can e-mail them. You will usually hear back straight away.

We also:

  • mark your assignments and mock exam papers
  • answer all study-related questions
  • help you find work - even after you qualify


Equipment

You'll need:

  • access to a computer with an internet connection
  • Microsoft Word software, or equivalent
