CTJT journalism student Stuart Littleford has lodged a complaint against Greater Manchester Police after an alleged assault by a police office while covering an event.
Stuart Littleford says the assault took place while he was filming a the collapse of a building with people reportedly trapped inside in Oldham.
He said he was grabbed by the officer and thrown off his feet into a fire engine. He hit his head and camera on the vehicle and suffered slight injuries.
Greater Manchester Police are now investigating.
Stuart is editor of Government and Public Sector Journal and a freelance TV journalist.
CTJT director Cleland Thom has been advising him about his legal rights.
Cleland, media advisor to some of the UK's top newspaper groups, said: 'I train photographers most weeks and constantly encourage them to report this kind of behaviour by police towards the media.
'It happens far too often, despite repeated assurance by the police that it will stop. It's the kind of treatment you associate more with Communist China than a democracy like the UK.'
