Jo Wiltshire

Jo Wiltshire is a published author and journalist specialising in feature writing, interviewing, profiles and comment pieces.

As a former Mail On Sunday celebrity interviewer, writer and commissioning editor she profiled figures from the entertainment, cultural and political fields, including Sir Ian McKellen, Heath Ledger, Joan Rivers, Ann Widdecombe and Ivana Trump.

She conducted on-set interviews for the Bond, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings films, and specialised in in-depth interview pieces for the paper’s cultural supplement.

Having started out in regional newspapers with The Eastern Daily Press in Norwich, Jo also has a thorough grounding in news reporting, and went on to specialise in news-based features, backgrounders and investigative work.

She became Deputy Features Editor at the EDP before winning the BT Media Awards Feature of the Year (SE&E Region) Award (2000) and being headhunted by the Mail On Sunday. Jo was also a finalist in the Travelex Travel Awards (1998), and the first-ever winner of The Prince’s Trust Local Reporting Award (2000).

More recently, Jo has become known as a parenting author and expert. She has three books published – Sneaky Parenting: Smart Shortcuts to Happy Families; The Baby Sleep Bible; and The Potty Training Bible (all with Crimson Publishing). She is also a regular parenting expert for BBC Radio, and writes for parenting and family websites.

Jo is also an experienced lecturer, tutor and learner-mentor in the field of journalism and magazine writing. She has written her own course materials and is trained in teaching delivery,  feedback and marking. She has marked news and features portfolios for the NCTJ.
